Button was hoping for ?a lot more?
Jenson Button admitted he was disappointed after being unable to win the Monaco Grand Prix, having looked like the favourite at stages of the race. The McLaren driver opted for a three-stop strategy that looked to be working in his favour until the safety car periods hampered him. In the end, Button had to settle for third position, and although he refused to consider himself unlucky, the Briton did admit he was hoping for much more.

Rubens Barrichello welcomed his first points of the season after ending Williams's drought in the Monaco Grand Prix. The Brazilian finished in ninth position, putting an end to Williams's worst start to a Formula 1 season, with the team having failed to score in the first five races. Double European Rally Champion Giandomenico Basso has talked of his pleasure at driving for the Proton team ahead of his return to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on next week's Yalta Rally. The 37-year-old Italian had been facing a season on the sidelines before he returned to the IRC - a series he won in 2006 - with the Malaysian manufacturer earlier this year. Block: Argentina stages toughest ever
Ken Block has described the stages on Rally Argentina as some of the hardest he will ever drive on. American Block is making his return to the world championship in South America after missing the last two events in Jordan and Italy following the birth of his third child, a son Mika. Romain Grosjean has been excluded from Saturday's GP2 race after his car failed post-race scrutineering. The DAMS driver lost the championship lead when he could manage no better than fourth in the race, but his title charge has been dented even further now he has lost the five points he scored. Renault: Kubica unlikely to race in 2011
Renault team owner Gerard Lopez says Robert Kubica could assess his fitness by driving in a Friday practice session at a grand prix later this year - but reckons it is highly unlikely that the Pole will be fit enough to race again during 2011. Kubica is continuing his rehabilitation at home following the rally crash nearly four months ago that left him with multiple injuries including a partially severed right arm. FIA bans Ferrari?s new rear wing
Ferrari has been told by the FIA that it cannot continue to run with a new design of rear wing, after the governing body deemed it to be in breach of the technical regulations. The Maranello-based team's cars featured a higher than normal flap extension on their rear wings in Friday practice in Spain - which the FIA had been looking at closely to work out whether it should be allowed under the rules. Although the wing was theoretically too high, Ferrari had tried to exploit an area in the rules relating to slot-gap separators ? which are not taken into consideration when measuring the wings.

Going Japanese
The second season of 2011 for the inRacingNews Challenge opened with a new track to the iRacing members. The Okayama International Circuit, best known as a host track to the Pacific Grand Prix in 1994 and ’95 and home to many major races in Japanese championships, bookends the iRNC this year, with the season opening on the short course and closing on the full course. It looks like last year?s champions, Gabriel Tobar in SpecRacer Ford and Chris Hughson in Pontiac Solstice, will both be competing in the faster Fords this year. Highcroft withdraws from Le Mans
American Le Mans Series champion team Highcroft Racing has withdrawn its Le Mans 24 Hours entry and ended its partnership with Honda. The team, which won the 2009 and 2010 ALMS titles, had not been able to put together a full-season package for 2011 so far, but finished second in the Sebring 12 Hours with the latest HPD LMP1 car. Although it had expected to run the car at Le Mans as well, team boss Duncan Dayton said the impact of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan had reduced the financial support available from Honda and meant the Le Mans 24 Hours programme was no longer viable.

Spain will be ?key test? for new rules
This weekend's Spanish Grand Prix will be the litmus test for Formula 1's 2011 regulations, reckons Williams technical director Sam Michael, with the Circuit de Catalunya posing the toughest challenge yet for moveable wings and Pirelli's tyre plans. The Barcelona circuit has traditionally produced processional racing, with its long high-speed corners and lack of heavy braking zones making it very difficult for drivers to overtake their rivals. But with the mixture of F1's Drag Reduction System (DRS) and Pirelli's push for multi-stop races having delivered a huge increase in overtaking opportunities, there is a good chance that this year's Spanish GP will deliver more excitement.
